Now obviously, the real JB was nothing like late with any of these.  But have fans ever taken this stuff about the fictional JB to heart and accused you of tardiness?

***

I never cease to be amazed at the things some fans "take to heart". Jim Engle and Chuck Fiala asked me to participate in the "obligatory new pages" for their FANDOM CONFIDENTIAL collection. After it came out, several reviewers congratulated them for "taking Byrne down a peg or two" -- as if I was somehow completely oblivious to the fact that they had me wearing a paper crown and acting like a pompus ass. Same when I cast myself in a similar light in my last issue of SHE-HULK.

I mean, really! What are some people thinking? (Or, is "thinking" even a viable word in this case?)

And what the hell is Reed doing, citing faith as a
rationale?

Reed has hung out with real gods.

The MU is a very different place than this boring ol'
universe out here! (Luckily!!)

Does that mean that the Marvel Universe's John Byrne is a theist? ;-)

The cover alone is worth the price. Great story in all areas. I was worried about Asst. Editors Month but loved the way it went. One of my favorite parts was the cosmic guest stars. I enjoyed the final panel with the Watchers face and the dialogue that went with it.

It's this type of issue that made JB my favorite comic book writer.

One of my favorite FFs ever! And it's so cool that I live in a time when I can thank JB "directly" for such a wonderful, thought provoking comic experience.

Thanks, JB!

Jeez, those original art of pages 20 & 21 ( 30 & 31 - help me understand?!?) are gorgeous.

...a point which the idiot professor who wrote that blog might have been expected to notice-- since several of them show up in the very comic book he's discussing.

This genius quotes Lee's Uatu lines "Galactus is not evil! He is above good... or evil! He does what he must... for he is Galactus!" and in the next paragraph reiterates this as merely "existing beyond the scale of human life" and builds his whole argument from there.  No wonder he finds the comic book offensive-- he's an idiot.

Lots of Marvel characters live beyond the scale of human life -- only one is described by Uatu as "above good... or evil!"  To not understand that the Marvel Universe is laced with Gods is to be thick.  To try to argue that Uatu really means "Galactus is evil" when he says "above good... or evil" is to be stupid.

Truly wonderful, and inspiring work by THE master.

I never looked at a JB comic the same way again...
I remember so well the feeling I had when I saw Mike Higgins in the first panel.
Wooooooo! Cool!

Thanks again and again, JB.

Seriously great issue!

What happened to the days when just one issue might be as amazing as this?  I can't think of one in the last two decades?
