This combo did strike me as impossible when I first saw it, but I think an FF/Batman crossover would be really amazing.  The contrast between Reed and Batman would be pretty wild.  A man of science and a detective team-up?  That would be pretty awesome.  And JB is the only one who could make it work!

The thing I like about the whole concept of cross-company crossovers, and, indeed, team-ups in general, is the basic challenge that's inherent, if the writers don't get lazy.

And, by lazy, I mean those Sub-Mariner/Aquaman, Green Arrow/Hawkeye, Dr. Fate/Dr. Strange style teams that so many fans seem to think of first.

This was what I liked about the original SUPERMAN vs THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. That seemed like a mismatched pairing, if ever there was one, and yet it worked in the end.

So, something like Batman/FF would be most intriguing, and a little challenging.

Tho not, perhaps, as challenging as, say, Human Torch/Martian Manhunter!

Very cool commission.  I love how Doom is controlling the action.  It reminds me vaguely of Arcade.

Good points, JB!  You know, I think that some of the Amalgamations would have made great team-ups.  Storm and Wonder Woman, for example, are both women of great power, dignity, and influence in their respective universes, but their powers are very different, their origins/backgrounds are very different...it's not "obvious" that they should team up...not to me, at least.

......although some "obvious" team-ups could be lots of fun....Wonder Woman and Thor comes to mind.  Romance, maybe?  :)

I think the Sub-Mariner / Aquaman and Hawkeye / Green Arrow match-ups are, at least in my mind, a chance to see who is "better" which of course you can't really discover.

BTW, the first two Superman / Spider-Man Treasury editions are my favorite of all the cross-company crossovers.

I'm late to the party, but this commission is pretty darn brilliantly logical and fun to pore over.

Batman and Reed would be so fun to watch complete each other's sentences.

••

Reed: We've gotten to the point where we're finishing each other's…

Batman: …pie?

Reed: Precisely.

Yes, I think mismatches are more fun.

I mean, I'd like to see something such as Iron Man and Aquaman VS The Mandarin & Ocean Master or Superman and Ghost Rider VS a supernatural enemy.

Mismatches are have an inherent comic book hook: How is THAT gonna
work?

You are just getting better and better, JB. You continue to impress the hell out of me in how you top each commission.
