If they impeach Trump a second time due to what happened at the Capitol, then he forms his own political party, can Congress shut them down/out by declaring them domestic terrorists?
*****
First off, he has already been impeached a second time. No ifs about it. Second, if the Senate decides he can’t run again, it’s not going to matter how many new parties he creates. He still can’t run again. And what candidate would run under that party and be a viable candidate that would truly have a shot at winning? No one.

Ok, to inject a bit of levity, 10 points to whomever can tell me what "...a second time..." triggers in my brain.

Maybe he can hire Sidney Powell as his defense attorney.

They're probably going to go after the My Pillow Guy for around the same amount.
Between that and several stores dropping his products over the election fraud garbage, MPG is screwed! *Plays the world's tiniest violin*
Also, Madison Cawthorn went on CNN and got so thoroughly owned that he's pretty much admitted there was no election fraud. Yet nutjob Rand Paul (can we just kick KY out of the country already?) not only won't admit it, but still wants an investigation.
Rob Portman, a GOP (PoK) Senator from Ohio, has said he doesn't plan to run for re-election because he wants to spend more time with his family and community. Portman is one of the somewhat sane Republicans, so him not running again could actually be a bad thing. (The GOP pretty much has a stranglehold on that state.)

Looks like the Lincoln Project ain't playin' games with Rudy.
But with all the bullshit he's been spreading over the years, he deserves to get smacked around.

Apparently, Trump rejected House Democrats' call to testify at his impeachment case - LINK - and his team even called the move a "public relations stunt.”
What a coward... but we all knew that already.

Oh, the Republicans are against anyone testifying. So they can rig the impeachment and find in Trump's favor, just like last time.
Also, Trump made a pre-emptive move and resigned from the Screen Actors' Guild, because he was going to be kicked out.

This is absolutely right, but I don't think there is any chance the senate will convict Trump, even if they get past the threshold question of whether it is constitutional to impeach a former president.
I have no idea whether Trump will run again, but if he does I think it would be difficult for him to get the Republican nomination. After the fiasco with his election fraud claims and the capitol riots he has lost the support of moderate Republicans.
I expect to see a large slate of Republican candidates in 2024 because Biden won't run for a second term and Kamala Harris is perceived by Republicans as unelectable.

The Republican spineless would still back Trump. In a secret vote, maybe not, but in a public vote? I think the last few days have shown us exactly where they are - spineless & prepared to vote someone who chases after a school shooting event survivor, shouting @ them, onto the education committee.
That’s beyond spineless, that’s horrible. & an indication of just how strong a hold Trump still has on that party.
They elect & defend someone capable of that to education.
You know what’s here, you know what’s coming, don’t kid yourself anything in the Republican Party has changed. It will only be getting worse as Trump takes revenge. The only thing that can change things would be Republican voters waking up to reality, & I just don’t see the evidence for that.

Republican politicians have been spineless for decades. I think voters will be less likely to support Trump again than Washington is.
