Very simple:

If it can be done, how would you fix Spider-Man to restore him to his former glory?  Any plot devices can be used such as time travel, magic, mindwiping, killing off supporting characters, etc....

But honestly, I think it's more fun if we didn't use these plot devices!

I honestly don't think there needs to be a "magic wand" reboot/retcon. Just get back to telling quality Spider-Man stories and the glory will quickly be restored.

Ignore everything that was done after Ditko left the book and start there

And find some way to fix that stupid taking off the mask thing. That's the biggest problem. That and the "organic" web shooters.

Peter Parker was in a coma for quite sometime before there was a death of Gwen Stacy--where everything went wrong for the development of Spider-Man-- and start from there.

I think the problems are more far reaching . . .

Peter wakes up in the hospital.

He has been a "guinea pig" in an experiment that went wrong. He had
been hooked up to a machine at the local university that allowed others
to view what he was thinking, but they had not been able to get him
dissengaged from the machine, and he had spent a couple of weeks
attached to the machine. His body has been mending, but he doesn't
remember any of the time since being unconnnected, tho he has been
awake/responsive at times.

After more time to recoup, he goes home to Aunt May and resumes high
school.

All of Marvel Comics since (mid-60s? mid-70s? you pick!) has been in
Peter's head.

i'm mostly inclined to agree with Bruce's approach -- just go back to telling Spider-Man stories -- fix the TONE of the book(s), and then the other details can be ironed out as story opportunities present themselves.

there are a number of ways to cover the revealed identity, and that probably IS the main "heavy lifting" that needs to be fixed - but still doesn't need to be done First.

I have a feeling the revealed identity will be a thing of the past after "One
More Day."

Andrew,
Make it Peter woke up in the hospital right after the first bite and then the rest of the Marvel Universe could unfold over again...

Simple, have Doctor Strange cast a spell and erase Cival War, Clone Saga and Mary Jane... and while you're at it, erase all knowledge of... well that would be telling...
