I wonder if it was a Jimmy Palmiotti/Amanda Conner idea? Sounds more like them than DC to me.

Few know this story, but this is exactly how JB broke into Marvel in the mid-70's and convince them that he was a talent they couldn't pass on.

The funny thing is that the situations he was asked to draw were EXACTLY the same as those mentioned in the Harley Quinn article (I'm thinking someone got a hold of that ancient text?) save that the character he was asked to draw in said situations was Volstagg.
