Mr.Byrne I was recently rereading your Avengers run.  Which gets better each time I read it.

I came upon the scene where That Which Endures is discussing the best canidate for the project.  Is there a reason he was really offended at the idea of Nekra being the canidate?

JB,

Your West Coast Avengers run remains one of the best Avengers runs ever.

In the same moment JB was doing both AVENGERS and AVENGERS WEST COAST. The classic series was nice, but the WEST COAST title was... Wow.

JB's AWC run was dynamite-- dismantling and rebuilding the Vision (and giving him a color scheme that made sense), recovering the original Human Torch and setting out a logical explanation for Wanda's powers...

Makes me wonder what might have been.

One of the best runs JB ever had - really disappointed when he left and in those days before t'internet I had no idea why until years later and Comics Interview!!

Still cannot get over seeing the pencils to the first couple of issues at UKCACin 1988...

Just watching the Incredibles again.  The scene where Mr. Incredible is consumed by a black mass, I saw similarities to JB's West Coast Avengers scene of the Scarlet Witch being consumed.  I agree with Victor it was good, but heard a rumor that JB was changing the Scarlet Witch's powers and was also pulling a Dark Phoenix retread.

Judging from what I was reading it doesn't seem to be true.

I remember being shocked when I bought those issues in the back issue bin two for a dollar.  I had no idea that John Byrne had worked on West Coast Avengers. I had known him for Fantastic Four (another run I discovered by accident.)

Those were the days,I would just scoop up a pile of comics and start reading them. Things sure were a lot more fun too.

Don't forget the coming of Marvel's funniest super team... The Great Lakes Avengers! JB's stories were quite dramatic, and their appearance was a good way to make things more lighter.
