I just bought the old, silent movie adaption of that book a week ago.  It was fun.

I'd recommend Edgar Rice Burroughs' works, especially the John Carter of Mars series.  Most of it is public domain now.

I really enjoyed that book when I read it a few years ago.

20,000 leagues under the sea. Still thrills me every time I read it.

Your'e talking about books on the internet, right? I have read short stories online, but am I the only person who just can't stomach the thought of reading an entire book on my computer monitor? I know you could copy it and print it, but I just can't get the feel for something like that. It seems like it would be cumbersome. Have any of you printed them?

Still read hardcopy, kind of hard to read in bed comfortably with a laptop.

read  an early gothic horror book "the monk" entirely on my computer. while slow starting and dense to get into if you're not into older fiction, it's an incredible story of the slow but complete corruption and fall of a good man. and in the middle is a long side-story of a great creepy ghost story (the threads of which do eventually work their way back into the longer narrative, but  could easily be a couple of short stories on its own). made for great reading during  slow times at work without looking quite so apparent that i had nothing to do.

several of the early burroughs work such as "tarzan of the apes" are falling into public domain now. and the estate of erb was very haphazard in making sure of renewing a bunch of the other stuff

Alexandre Dumas! The Three Musketeers (and sequels), The Count of Monte Cristo and lots of other lesser-known works are great!

Verne also has *a lot* of little-known cool adventure yarns.

Got literally dozens of books from both authors in cheap recent portuguese collections. I don't know how avaliable they are in english, tho'.
