JB, do you have any human model, or a combination of models, you used for this Logan sketch?
I am trying to make a sculpture based on this image of yours I found in the "what's in your sketchbook" thread, and I just cannot seem to get it right. It's driving me nuts. Any help would be much appreciated.

Looks pretty "right" to me!
And, no, no model per se.

Thanks so much for the response, JB! I felt kind of self serving asking you about this in a public forum... but it was definitely worth it. I have some piece of mind now. If it's close enough for you, it's close enough for me! :)

Say, that's a cool-lookin' sculpt!
Fun concept, especially side-by-side with the original art, and I'd enjoy seeing the final piece.

Really, really good Charles. It looks more like Logan than Hugh Jackman. The expression is completely right! Top job!

Thanks - Dave, Simon and Chris! :D
It's kind of evolved since I took these photos because I wasn't happy with it. Then the new direction I went wasn't as good as these photos. I think I can work it back to this state, though. I will definitely post pictures of the final results when I am done. Thanks for all the encouraging words.
I also have another JB sculpt I am working on that I think people might be interested in here. I have been working on it because I was so frustrated with the Logan sculpt. I am trying to make a poseable model of the ROG-2000 robot. It's really challenging, too. I hope it turns out. :) I am using this image in the lobby as a guide..
It's working out pretty well so far though. It will be the same size as it is in this image if you printed it out on an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper. It's a lot of fun! :)

Charles can you post some pics of some finished stuff you've
done? The unfinished looks amazing curious as to see a finished
model.

I wish I could, John Griggs. I am new to sculpting though. This is about my third or fourth sculpt. And my first sulpt in something other than water clay. Water clay was so difficult for me to work with that I couldn't get my pieces done before they dried out.
I am just discovering all the amazing sculpting materials the pros use. This sculpt is made out of an oil based clay that never dries. And the ROG-2000 sculpt is being made out of some really incredible wax that is just amazing to work with. It is the stuff the toy prototypes are made out of by companies like McFarlane toys.
If you are interested in sculpting there are some great sites out there that have professional sculptors showing the stuff they make that is just jaw dropping. I can post some links if anyone's interested.

Charles- very nice work. When it's complete, I hope you'll have pictures to show the final result!

Well, Charles, as far as ROG I can tell you anything
you produce has got to be better than what was
shown to me by a guy who was actually trying to
license the character for toys. Heck, if you took a pile
of dog doo scooped up from the gutter and showed it
to me unmodified, it would be better! The other
version looked more like a Grey alien -- and one who
had been made of wax and left out in the sun!
I'll be interested to see your results.
