Hey Chief,

Just wondering about some of the tools I should get for drawing. I just drew a 12 pager recently, and noticed it's hard to draw curved lines and stuff. So, I am going to get a french curve. Are their any other tools like this I should pick up? I use an ink brush, a fine sharpie, and a regular sharpie to ink--anything that would make it easier you could recommend? Thanks!

Start with a French Curve -- but also train yourself to do the same thing freehand. You can also teach yourself to draw curves using a straight edge, by letting it rotate as the drawing tool moves along it.

Also, remember you can tip the tools, so that they are not flat on the drawing surface, and this allows the use of a brush as well as a penpoint.

Do they still make those blue bendy French curves with the little lip on one
side? Somewhere I have one of those that's 12? long that I used a lot while
at JKS.

I never got the hang of a flexible French curve, particularly for inking. Walt Simonson gave me a good tip long ago, by taping pennies to the bottom of a rule or curve, it gives it an inking bevel
