So are the endpapers a new niche for you JB? Can we start asking for pricing on those from Jim? I wouldn't mind getting one done in the front of The Hobbit or LotR.

Mr. Byrne,
Thanks for the images.
These are perfectly wonderful. Unbelievably good.

Hmmmm......I'd have to say it's REALLY hard to top the greatness of Cockrum's cover to #101......but you come dang close!

I am impressed at how detailed Dave's work is compared to your own. Could you detail your version a little more?

And I like it fine just the way it is.
There's a big difference in working on an 11x17 piece of art board laying flat on the table and trying to work on an 8.5x11 sheet of paper bound into a hardcover book.

What I especially like about JB's is how I can
practically hear Cyclops gasping for breath.

All these bound editions, with original art as the end papers, are making me jealous. The Phoenix rising shot is amazing, JB. Very nice tribute to Cockrum as well.

The second image is great. I have a question Mr. Byrne: Why didn't draw "Phoenix Chest Emblem" bigger, like you used to do?.

I agree, though I think I go with Dave's version where Cyclops is getting a mouthful of Jamaica Bay. I live right off of that bay, and trust me, it would not be a fun experience.
Not being nitpicky though - both versions each have their own merits. For instance, I prefer JB's Nightcrawler here.

Truth is... Jamaica Bay water woulda killed all the X-Men, Jean Grey in cocoon, and even the Phoenix too.
