I may almost be as impressed by the client's concept, as JB' beautiful rendering.
Just perfect!

Let me use my 400th post to say: EXCELLENT.
I love the shadow of the Moon on the Earth. It's surprising how many "from-space" illustrations forget things like that.

****
In this case, as on the comic pages, I use Liquid
Paper. On the larger pieces (20x30 and up) I actually
draw little circles and black around them. Seems to
work better, there, for some unknown reason.

You know, I think it's possible to actually get a sense of your enjoyment at working on this commission just by looking at the art, JB. Or is it just me?
Fantastic work! Thanks!

Hey! That's Great!
And is this the first time you've drawn the Iron Giant?
(aside from a sketch, perhaps)
I really need to see that film again.

On a note related to one subject of the commission: JB, have you ever been invited to attend the Superman Celebration in Metropolis, Illinois?
For those that don't know, each year at the first week in June, the small town holds a weekend celebration with celebrities, a parade, and more, celebrating all things Superman. I live about an hour or so away from the town, but have yet to attend the celebration (due to working).
