On a somewhat related topic, I'd like to ask a couple of questions about the Iron Giant movie.

First, I've never seen it, although I have read much praise about the movie in the forum that I have been considering purchasing it.

So my first question is: Are there any definitive, special edition or special boxed versions that I should pickup?

Second:  Is the movie OK for a bright 4 year old who starting to get into Superman?  Lately he's been running around the house telling everybody he sees that "Superman caught the helicopter with ONE hand!"  Is it any more violent/scary than say Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs?

Thanks,

Joe

Joe,

There is a deluxe edition of Iron Giant available but I don't know that you need the bells and whistles to enjoy the movie. Might be nice to have, though, and the price isn't exorbitant.

The movie should be fine for a four year old. It's certainly no more scary than most Disney movies (which I maintained for years were NOT for kids!), so if he's okay with Snow White, he'll be fine with Iron Giant.

Drew

That's gorgeous, JB!  Given your fondness for the Iron Giant, I'm actually kind of surprised you haven't done something like that simply for your own enjoyment!

I guess I'm not the only one who thought a follow up to The Iron Giant should have him meet Superman! (It could happen, too. Warner Bros. owns both characters.)

Drew: Thanks for the info.  He's watched Snow White so much, I know it by heart now.  You right too, There is a lot of dark and scary imagery in a lot of the Disney movies I am suprised they were mad for kids (That's my assumption, may not be true)

Kind of funny line from my son.  When we watched Superman togther at the end when Superman pulls Lois out of the car and kisses her.  He turned and asked me "How come she didn't wake up?"

I just said Superman does things diffrently as I tried not to laugh hysterically.

Wowwww.   Too bad Modern Masters is already out as this would have been a nice inclusion.  I love the playfulness.  Heroes smiling -- that's what comics need more of nowadays!

Flat out awesome work JB! That commision brought a huge smile to my face. For anyone who has not seen The Iron Giant do yourself a favor and go and rent it. You won't be dissapointed. An inspired commision idea, executed to perfection by the maestro. That piece is going to a very lucky home!!
