I'm mulling over a possible commission idea that would involve 3 female Marvel characters versus 3 female DC characters.  This is making me consider which ladies from each company match up well.  So far all I know is I'd like to see She-Hulk versus Power Girl.  What do the rest of you think about who would make good match ups?

Who from DC would you have face the Invisible Woman?

Scarlet Witch?  (Besides Zatanna?)

Storm?

Etc.

I'd do:

Invisible Woman vs. Wonder Woman (Sue blocking a punch or the lasso with a force field)

Storm vs. Zatanna

Scarlet Witch or Wasp vs. Black Canary

Cool suggestions...but wouldn't Namorita seriously get her butt handed to her by Barda?  I don't even think it would be close.  I love Namorita, but I recall her as having only a small fraction of Namor's strength.

Part of my problem in this situation is thinking up matchups that would be really close and could easily go to either combatant.

Not to drift too much, but are the Marvel "Marvels" even close to the same power levels as the DC "Marvels"?

Zatanna vs Scarlet Witch

Powergirl vs She-Hulk

Catwoman vs Blackcat

Each has a correspondiing power that would make for an interesting touch.

This thread is showing a trend towards crossover-itis. You know how that works -- fans say they want to see DC vs Marvel, but it ends up being Hawkeye vs Green Arrow, the Flash vs Quicksilver, Atom vs Ant Man, and so on.

Remember, what made SUPERMAN vs THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, or BATMAN & CAPTAIN AMERICA work is that the characters were very different in nature.

I should point out, too, for Laren's consideration, that a commission like this is not going to be a "fight scene" in the sense of multiple panels and pages. This is a single shot, like a cover, with the character's frozen in place. So what you really should be thinking about is what would make for the most visually interesting composition, rather than which characters could "logically" battle each other.

Elasti-Girl vs. Invisible Woman could make for a pretty dramatic shot.

Below, for the perusal of the JBF, I have scanned-in my drawing of the epic, cross-time, mixed-gender match --

The Invisible Woman vs Invisible Kid!  Enjoy!

Elasti-Girl versus Thundra: it's the classic superhuman versus the gigantess match-up, with the potential for massive amounts of destruction.

Phantom Lady versus Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew): two of the pipingly hottest women to ever grace comics, the sensuousness of this match-up cannot be overstated...and with JB drawing it? Momma.

Black Canary versus The Valkyrie: classic underdog versus powerhouse, the idea is that BC doesn't back down from anybody no matter what. Like DD/Hulk from Miller's run.

Looking at it visually I'd go with Storm, She-Hulk, and the Invisible Woman for Marvel.  For DC I'd say Hawkgirl, Wonder Woman, and Big Barda.  The match-ups could be:

  • Big Barda vs the Invisible Woman
  • Hawkgirl vs Storm
  • Wonder Woman vs She-Hulk
Since you're decided on Power Girl vs She-Hulk I'd replace Hawkgirl and have Wonder Woman vs. Storm.

Yeah, but don't most comic fans relish the "good guy (or gal) vs his (or her) evil duplicate/opposite number"?  Of course, it's a matter of individual preference, which company's characters are the "good" and which are the "evil", but, still, match-ups of similarly-powered characters have been a staple of this wonderful industry for decades, now, and they're still selling books (though, alas, not as many...)

And,...that's 100!  Let the balloons drop!  Fire the confetti cannons!  Pop the corks!

Well, if I go with this idea for a commission, it might take place inside a wrestling ring.

Maybee have JB "hulk up" the girls Laren (: (sorry but the idea of Wonder
woman producing a "stinger splash" is TOO GOOD to be true!!)

On topic I'd plump for:

She-Hulk versus Power Girl

then...

Aurora versus Supergirl (generations)

&.. (my DREAM fight modern JB V Past JB)....

KITTY versus NUDGE!

Oh, yeah... Barda is a lot stronger and more experienced than Namorita.  As I put together my list, I was thinking about how the "weaker" character in each of the matchups would have to be resourceful to defeat (or even hold his/her own against) the other.  Evenly matched foes wouldn't be quite as much fun.

Mary Marvel VS Ms. Marvel - c'mon, what could be more obvious?

Firestar vs Starfire

&.. (my DREAM fight modern JB V Past JB)....
KITTY versus NUDGE!

That's one I'd like to see, too, Robbie, though I labeled it "Sprite vs Nudge" because I'd definitely want it to be the kid, not the supermodel ninja.
