I'm quite certain that this was likely asked before, but a search was fruitless, so I'm asking here - did the Jeanne-Marie persona know that her brother was gay? Obviously Aurora knew, and didn't seem to completely approve of it. So, I was curious about her 'other half'.

No, Jeanne-Marie didn't know Jean-Paul was Gay. Her head would most likely have exploded.

One of the things that always confused me as a kid when reading Alpha Flight or the X-Men vs Alpha Flight LS was trying to understand certain comments made about Northstar.  "What the hell are they talking about?" I would ask myself.

Years later, I was slightly older and recently purchased some near mint issues of the first 18 issues of AF (which I had never read).  It soon occurred to me that Northstar was obviously gay, and all the stuff I was confused about made sense.

BTW, is "a search was fruitless" supposed to be a pun?

I didn't see a possible pun until you brought it up.....!

And I didn't learn about Northstar's orientation until years later, in a Comics Interview published in 1989. Boy did I feel dumb - I immediately recalled all of the clues that JB left - AF#7+8 being the biggest - and those issues lead me to ask the original question - since in #7 Jean Paul introduced Jeanne-Marie to a former lover of his.

Vinny, don't feel alone. I read all the JB issues and I had NO CLUE about Northstar until I read about it on this board! Like, last year! I really need to go back and reread those issues...

But subtlety is, I think, an underappreciated aspect of storytelling, especially in comics. I'd rather have missed the hints then be hit over the head with them. I believe this is also JB's preferred approach to the heritage of Wanda and Pietro. And I agree with those who say a definitive origin for Logan should never have been done.

Remind me someone did Aurora definitely know?

In which case do split personalities not have shared memories or is this the case (as I would suspect) of Jeanne-Marie shutting out something she could not accept?

Oh, Aurora definitely knew.

AF#8 - after Northstar accuses her of sleeping with Deadly Earnest in order to save her own life, and bringing up her sleeping with Sasquatch (I do wonder how he even knew about that in the first place) to back up his assumption:

"I don't belive this! You dare! You of all people dare pass judgement on my love life!"

That was the biggest clue that hit me when I read that Comics Interview - my thought was "So THAT's what she meant!"
