I totally agree with you Aric, hopefully your commission has set a trend. JB does some great females, hopefully we'll see a whole range of them.

When JB posted a while back that no one had asked for a Wonder Woman commission, I was shocked. Then, when I went to look in the gallery, I noticed that John had really done so few renditions of female characters. I'm glad we have been treated to some recently, with this piece and Sue Storm. I'm waiting for a Hawkgirl now...

There are plenty to choose from, not least any of the females from X-men, Fantastic Four, Alpha Flight. All great choices.

And Superman, especially Silver Banshee. I was looking through my old Superman comics the other day. John really drew some cool female villains..and of course, Lois.

Very nice.
Is Wonder Girl supposed to be in her red costume that she wore in Teen Titans/New Teen Titans? Should there be stars on the it?

In that pose most of the stars are obscured. I experimented in the pencils with putting parts of stars poking out from various places -- under her arm, behind the blood spatter -- but they didn't work visually. I tried a single star on her left breasts, but it looked like a pastie. So I opted for no visible stars -- and that's called "artistic lisence".

John, Did you base the "dragons" on anything in particular? They look familiar, but can't quit place them? Especially cool how the dragon's tale, whcih is in his front is wrapped around Wonder Woman. Not to steal from a comment you made in another thread(the Lab Rats thread), but how anyone could look at this picture of Wondfer Woman, despite the muscles, and complain that she looks masculine is beyond me. She appears strong and beautiful. Only question I have is whether it is even possible to hold the sword in the way she is holding it? Left hand around the right side of her head?

Thanks John, and the piece is breathtaking. In my opinion, it's the best commission to date. Just can't take my eyes off of it, aftter 3 days. My wife is not happy

This pic is simply beautiful Mr Byrne, and love how it is dripping with detail.
Almost everyone who's ever been remotely associated with the character has donated a piece to the art auction for Wonder Woman Day on the 29th. A Byrne WonderWoman would definitely be a highlight out of the dozens of pieces already on display. Will you be contributing one as well? If so... I bet it kicks all kinds of arse.

Trying to break my Marvel bias, I’m doing a wonderful DC art bump. This Wonder Woman piece is outstanding by the talented Mr Byrne! One of those that make you jealous that it’s not hanging on your wall.
