I was just poking around Monsters in Motion and discovered that there is now a 1/4 scale "bust" of Doctor Doom being offered. Looks way too much like the movie version, which is bad enough, but just to make things even worse, a selling point is that the mask is removable. The catalog entry is accompanied by an animated graphic in which the mask fades away, and there is Doom's heavily scarred face for all to see.

Who thought this was a good idea? Who the hell approved it? Matters not, I guess. This makes it official. MARVEL is dead.

What did you make of the movie, John? I'm sure you must have said at the time, but I never caught the threads as I was away.

JB, there was already a Marvel Legends figure that revealed Doom's scarred face. I absolutely HATE that Marvel has allowed that to happen.

****

Except for some spiffy special effects and about 45 seconds worth of dialog, I thought it stank on ice.

Coming soon from DC, Alan Davis and John Byrne doing The Final Nail...oh wait...

Yeah, something like that does disappoint me. What makes me more horrified though is the fact that it's part of a "monster's in motion" set. Next we'll see a line of "Classic Roles"....Jimmy Stewart from Shenandoah, John Wayne from the Quiet Man...Ben Affleck from Daredevil...

The best thing to do is just to ignore the bust.

Has Doom's face ever been fully shown? I have not seen it and I prefer not to, I prefer just to speculate.

I've followed comics through my brothers over the years and even I know not to show Doom's face

In the comics? No. Though there was this mini-series from a few years ago that had Doctor Doom wearing a makeshift version of his mask that revealed far more than I thought it should have.
