Well put, Aaron.

And as always... JB most definitely remembers as can be seen in the recent Wolverine commission.

Some artists seem to forget that Wolverine is a man with a few animal-like attributes, not an animal who happens to somewhat resemble a man.

How many of you are aware that Chris and Dave planned to reveal Wolverine to be one of the High Evolutionary's Ani-Men, before that origin got snapped up in the rush to get out a Spider-Woman comic before a TV cartoon show beat Marvel to that name?

That's why there's some early confusion as to whether he's a mutant or not.

John, can you elaborate at all on this?  I've never heard this before.

I think I recall you mentioning that somewhere, JB.  I also heard that someone early on wanted the claws to be not a part of Wolverine, but part of his gloves.

I remember that whole High Evolutionary thing.  Make me wonder, how popular a character would Wolverine have been had that been his background?

That was from Len. As he conceived the character, Wolverine was 18 years old, and the claws were in the gloves.

So much for creator's intent, huh?

Ari, I believe if we were privy to even half the ideas that have gotten tossed around during editorial meetings, our heads would explode!

Amen to that, Roger.
And if I'd heard it as a kid, it'd most likely be the literal truth.

Being an adult I find it amusing, and interesting. Especially since in most of these cases, it seems to me that creator intent or not, what was actually produced ended up for the better. At the very least at the time... and not vouching for everything that has come to every character in the following decades.

It looks like to me that Hulk has a hulkbuster helicopter in his sights and is about to pounce.

Another Byrne image bump!

This is a powerful image of the Hulk, the grittier inks work well. Whatever he has his sights on is in for a hurting!
