One of the weaker entries, this. The story of "Sluj" was something I'd been kicking around in my head for about a decade, and it had not found quite the right project to which to attach itself. At the time, I thought NAMOR was a natural, but by the time all was said and done the end result was… unsatisfying. Not sure just why.

This issue and the ones that follow are a real challenge for me. There were so many plot related elements to show. Some things tease storylines that won't take off for another 5-10 issues. But at the same time I don't want to give away everything for people who haven't read it.
Damn you, John Byrne! Why did you have to make comics packed with action, excitement and adventure? Couldn't you just have people talk for half an issue? That's easier to show.
That splash page with our "mysterious" mummy like woman and the final page our really nice. I'd love to have the original art for that shot in the tube. Just a great shot.
This storyline sure brings a change to Namor. But that's more for next issue than anything.
