I have to say, "This Land is Mine!" didn't hit me nearly as hard as this story did. I dog-eared this issue. Read it over and over. Memorized it. (I still have it. It's beat all to hell.) I loved the science driving the story - the distances, gravities, velocities - just the sheer scope of it. The Thing falling, taking most of a day to hit...(an amazing moment). Yet there was a great riot of Twilight Zone-like story thrown in the pot, too. This is my favorite Fantastic Four story. Hands down. Sorry, Galactus. It is what it is.

Now this is one of favourite issues of any comic!
The giant spaceship eating the moon, the moon collapsing in the hangar, the Treen-inspired alien, Reed pointing out that the giant alien shouldnt even be able to support its own weight, Ben falling for a day... aaaah so much good stuff.

Great issue. My favorite moments were seeing JB draw/write the Inhumans again. I enjoyed seeing the story from Reed's perspective. Always wondered what the others saw in their moments. Loved the alien using a can of aerosal to attack the humans/inhumans. The cover alone was worth the price.

Is this the first comic where we've actually *heard* Black Bolt say something? (in a manner of speaking--no pun intended!) I'm afraid I'm lacking most of the earlier appearances by the Inhumans.

This is one of the comics I think about most vividly, as it was the first time I was confronted with the idea that a being as tall and massive as the alien would not be able to support his own weight, at least not in a "humanoid" form, which Reed picks up on immediately. This stuck in my mind, along with the deaths of the FF, which are pretty disturbing.

I thought the issue clever and amusing, but it is not one of my favorites. I did like the bits that showed Reed using his head, and not just in some fake-science kind of way though. Back in the day, one issue per year like this was a nice break from the usual.

One of the strangest JB FF's ever... and, I have to say, one of my
favorites from his run, probably for that reason. I've heard tell
that this may have originally been a Space:1999 idea that never saw the
light of day and got adapted as an FF story, but true or not, who
cares? All of the scientific and logical explanations for why
things cannot be as they seem are quite interesting, original, and
clever. The art is also enjoyable, including the incredible use
of scale and the unique giant alien JB concocted for this one and only
story. Atypical, dreamlike, and intentionally fragmentary, this
change of pace, for me, represents an admirable and surprisingly
successful JB attempt to really stretch the comicbook storytelling
form. I remember being intrigued reading it the first time fresh
off the stands as a kid and I think it holds up quite well some 25
years later. Cheers for a very satisfying change of pace, JB!
