The monster's right arm seems brighter than the
rest of his body. That seems to add extra depth to the
picture. Was it intentional or am I just imagining
things?

****

Hmm. I'm not seeing it. Anybody else?

I see it. It's faint, and looks to be more of an artifact of the scanning process than anything else.

strange that the monster's "horn" wasn't also affected by this... it usually happens as a column going from top to bottom...  but you're probably right!

It depends on the gamma setting of your monitor. If you lighten your
monitor and keep the contrast high you can see it. My monitor here at work
is set to try to match the white point of our newsprint and the greyness
value of our black ink, and as a result everything looks a lot lighter and
washed out than standad computer monitor calibration. So I can see what
Tiago was talking about.

I remember, what a great issue. Had just discover the X-Men a few months proir and was moving them to the top of the "must read" list. And then to learn this was the last issue by this John Byrne guy. Good thing I was already a fan of the Fantastic Four. Good stuff.

I see what he's talking about, but I think it has to do with the scanning possibly.

This monster in this one is just killer.  Did you come up witb the monster just for this piece JB?

I love it where JB creates characters in the commissions that make you long to see not only the main subject of the commission but the new character as well. This, and the "Wonder Women" piece, are execellent examples of JB creating a monster that is as interesting as the main character.

To whoever commissioned this, what did you ask for?

I think that may be what's happening to me.

Well, it looks like it was a happy coincidence, then, on an already awesome work of art.

Love the Kitty Pride commissions, JB! Another character you defined so well visually that no other artists can compete, IMO.

This was one of my favorite stand alone issues. Great piece JB, thanks for bringing back the memories. I'm going to have to get an X-Men piece when I get another commission. These are too good to pass up!

I'm trying to figure out where to categorize this one for the gallery...

JB - would you consider this a re-imagining of the X-Men #143 cover by Terry?

JB,
If Kitty had appeared in your She-Hulk runs, would she have broken the fourth wall or just walked through it?   :-)

Wow! Brillant, beautiful, wonderful piece. I love it! Thank you so much for sharing.

X-men # 143 had not been published in France back then, they just skipped to # 144, so a few years later when I discovered there was one last Uncanny X-Men by JB I was thrilled, and even more so when I found a copy in a comicbook shop for only $6 during my second visit to the USA.

Great commission JB from a great issue. Love the chase through the mansion and how Kitty defeated the creature.
