Another trick, this one comes courtesy of Brian Bolland, is to use a q-tip to fill in large black areas. It works REALLY well. Try it sometime.

I use the Raphael #8404 #2 or 3 as well. I find them to come to a finer point than the W&N series 7s.

The only mistake is limiting yourself. JB is using Pitt Pens now, but used a crowquill on Wonder Woman.
I've been having fun at work lately taking JB's pencils, copying them lightly on 8x12 paper, and inking them with a #3 Micron marker (Fine point Sharpie for the big areas).
Experiment. Find what works for you. Have fun fun fun!!

JB-Line forms on the left for everybody who wants to tells us what hacks they are/were for doing so. (using markers)
I would never say that. Gil Kane also used them didn't he?

Bigger question for everybody: What ink do you use with a pen nib or brush?
I used to like Black Magic, but lately I dislike everything that comes in a bottle.

Black Magic smells and gets clumpy.
Use Talens Drawing ink #700 (from Holland). Thinner and blacker than Black Magic.
or you can use Pelikan, (great for grey wash), or if you want to make
it really black, take the bottle, and boil it down almost halfway.
It'll be a bit thick, but it's BLACK.

I use FW ink. Black Magic is too gray. I tried Bombay ink, it is black but it eats the brush.
