My favorite french translation is "Dr Fatalis" for "Dr Doom". Smart!

Curiously not all the names got translated. For instance "Iron Man" and "Iron Fist" have kept their names despite the fact that most french readers are incapable of pronouncing "iron" correctly.

2 titles become legends...

SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN MAGAZINE #1 was entitled in English "Lo, this monster!". The Italian translator in the '70s didn't know that "lo" was an arcaic form for "here", so the story became "Lo il mostro", i.e. "Lo the monster". "Lo" was considered the name of the creature fought by Spider-Man!

One early MTU issue featuring Namor and Dr. Dorcas was entitled "Mayhem is the man fish!". The translator didn't understand that "mayhem" was simply pre-posed in the title, so the result was "Mayhem l'uomo pesce": "Mayhem the man fish"... Mayhem, like Lo, became the name!

Did they really use the hyphen on "Getinga", Lars? I can't remember that, even though I remember the translation which to the non Swedish speakers would make use of the Swedish female name Inga to emphesize that Wasp is a superheroine. The problem being that it also suddenly looks more like "Goat Inga" which was hardly a good thing.

O and Lars you forgot the the Thing, who was called Big Ben.

(and there are some "a" and "o"s in Lars's list atht aren't really "a" and "o"s but we can't write those Swedish letters here. Thought it might be good to point out though.
