JB, what was your take on the character itself. I know she pre-dated you a bit
on the X-Men, but you handled her quite a bit, even up through the
Fantastic Four.

Never really got a fix on Lilandra. At least, not until
Chris did his "editorial comment" in UNCANNY,
having her invade the FF's headquarters and
threaten Reed. At that point, as far as I was
concerned, she became the Queen Bitch of the
Universe.

Awsome! Did you use any mechanical aides in this drawing, JB? The face and headpiece looks so geometric and perfect.
Thanks to JB and the client.

I used a couple of eliptical templates and a set square to do her sceptre and the "nodes" on her chair. Everything else is freehand.

Very few people do metal/shiny objects as well as JB does. This piece is truly spectacular!

I've always been curious about the design surrounding her eyes. Is it natural,
a tattoo, or something else?
A very regal pose.

Sweet looking JB. Everytime you draw Lilandra she always seems to be radiating royalty. I love the pose she is doing in the commission.

IIRC, in Claremont's stories the Shi'ar were said to have descended from bird-like creatures. Looking at Lilandra, I must say : no way !
