It's unfortunate that "updating" Aquaman meant turning into a less-cool Namor.

Poor old Arthur! All those years in Namor's shadow, and the "best" bad writers could think of to do with him was to make him even more of a Sub-Mariner clone.

Who predated whom?  Aquaman or Namor?  I know both were "unveiled" in the 40s.

For me he'll always be best than Namor... Aquaman was a hero without that "villain" approach.

Namor came first with Marvel Comics 1 in 1939 Aquaman came later in More Fun comics.

That is so neat! Aquaman is one of my favorite DC characters and after seeing this commission I think JB should be the one to restore this character like he did with Namor.

Incredibly clean lines (but then, he did just get out of the water).

Very nice Aquaman JB.  It reminds me of that Aquaman cover that Curt Swan did years ago with Aquaman bursting out of the water.

Question for JB:

1. If DC offered you AQUAMAN gig would you take it?

Fantastic drawing!

"Unexpected and delightful"

Agreed...I was expecting to see a Namor commission when I first read the title....which I imagine was his intent!
