Matt,
I skipped to page five of this discussion and thought your above post:
John, are you just posting now to antagonize Joe Zhang?  You've changed your avatar to be a mirror image of his and most of your recent comments in threads across the board are to quote him and agree.

was referring to our host.  I laughed out loud when I figured out my mistake.

Thought I would share.

At Swamp Things hand I would say. At least he better should if he doesn't.
Hard to say for sure with that mask and without seeing his eyes. But I think get your point. If I can't tell it for sure, why should I assume he looks anywhere else than where it would be most likely and, more important, it makes more sense in the given situation.
Furthermore, if I can't tell for sure where he looks, why should I spoil my fun in the pic (or the story) by picture him (before my mental eye) looking the wrong way? It's not impossible that he looks at the hand trough his mask.

As a comic reader you have to fill in blanks all the time. In one picture Spider-Man is on the roof, in the next he's swinging down the alley (roof maybe in the background if done right). Do I really want to ask myself how he did get down there? Then I should probably stick to movies.

Edited because of a typo.

Spider-Man is reaching out for the hostess twinkie ad at the bottom of the page and Man-Thing wants to snack on someone's little brother!

Thanks for answering my question JB. Just an over-analytical curiosity on my part. When reading comics my eyes tend to skim quickly and miss any such conventions. When looking at a stand-alone image it's too easy to get engrossed in the details.

I knew I wasn't called Swamp Thing. Man-Thing. I got to remember that.

We need more Gorilla Grodd commissions.  In fact, more gorillas in general would be welcomed!  Titano?  Grunt?

This piece has to be one of the top five most fun commissions JB has done!

Art bump for a killer large DC commission for Mathew Warden, John's art rep's son... pretty nice to be the son of Jim Warden!
