Good one! (Nice title too)
JB given your well known, less than fond memories of your Alpha Flight run are all these AF commissions increasing your fondness for the characters at all?
Hypothetically, would you ever consider an "Alpha-Flight : Hidden Years"? While you gave us all the origins, there must be plenty of gaps in their pre Alpha Flight #1 timeline that could be exploited?

I think I have mentioned before that, around 15 years ago, I came within hailing distance of "returning" to Alpha Flight. An openly Gay editor, up at Marvel, contacted me about an idea he had for a series with Northstar teamed with another character. I worked out some ideas, and we agreed on a game plan for the book. Then we submitted the proposal to the Powers That Were. It was rejected, based, we were told, on me asking "too much money" to do it. (For pencils, inks and script I was asking half what the Kubert bros. were getting just for pencils!)It was pretty sad and obvious that the real reason the project was rejected was that the PTW were afraid to do a series with an openly homosexual lead. To answer your other question -- yes, I do feel faint nostalgic tingles doing these AF pieces. Probably because it's nice to see them actually drawn well after all these years.*
*I refer to my own work on ALPHA, not that of others.

One of my favorite characters. When I was in seventh grade I was so enamored of the issue (I think the cover title was "Season of the Witch") where Shaman battles a demon-possessed woman, that I promptly stole him for the lead role in the first short story I ever wrote. I'm a bit amazed at how underused he has been through the years. The bag alone has so many possibilities you would think that Shaman would be in more memorable stories.

I don't think too many people "get" Shaman's bag. The idea that there is a whole mystical universe in there. Something I didn't get around to addressing was the rather disturbing notion of what might happen if some idiot turned it inside-out!

One of the greatest characters ever created. Drawn so greatly here. Thanks JB. The proud owner is a very, very, happy man, whomever he or she may be!

YEA! More Alpha Flight! I love Shaman, he'd be tied for my favorite 2nd character on the team along with Aurora, Sasquatch, Puck, Box...
I like that Michael doesn't always have the exact same headband or wristbands on. Thanks, and thanks for sharing!
