JB, what kind of "brush" was used?
***
I put "brush" in quotes because I used the PITT pen
with the "brush" nib. On OMAC I used a real brush,
with much the same tip -- Windsor Newton Series 7,
No. 2.

Is Deadman a character you've ever given any serious consideration to working on?

Deadman is one of my favorite characters. One of the best series ever, imho.Which is why I would NEVER want to do the character in his own series. Which is why I think NOBODY should have done anything with the character after the storyline was wrapped up in BRAVE&BOLD. Nothing done since has served the character in any way, except to screw him up.

I am a huge Deadman fan and this piece makes me extremely jealous of the person who bought it. JB, the thing I appreciate the most about your work is your ability to capture the essence of any character you do. Even in a simple shot like this one.
As for Spawn. He looks a lot like Nemesis from Alpha Flight, so you could handle it with ease. It's like you designed him yourself.

There's a high end hardcover version out there:
http://www.amazon.com/Deadman-Collection-Dennis-ONeil/dp/156 3898497/ref=sr_1_1/002-3472534-8646466?ie=UTF8&s=books&a mp;qid=1182547439&sr=1-1
If you don't want to pay that much, DC also put out a 7 issue series back in the mid-80s that reprinted the run. I believe that the hardcover is a little more thorough than the 7 issue series in that includes some post Strange Adventures stories by Adams, but the primary storyline is all there:

(Unfortunately, those guys are out of #7, but at least you can see what the books look like.)
