After JB announced he was doing a montage, I immediately thought a Wolverine montage would be a great commission to get. I wrote down the scenes I would want:
1. Wolverine VS Hulk VS Wendigo 2. Wolverine Days of Future Past VS Sentinel 3. Wolverine and Captain America in WWII 4. Wolverine and Phoenix VS Proteus 5. Wolverine and Colossus performing a Fastball Special 6. Wolverine VS Hellfire Club 7. Wolverine VS Shingen w/ Mariko 8. Wolverine VS Sabertooth
Pretty close...

SWEET! I particularly like the "go fetch!" panel with the Hudsons. And how
the "time in his life" progresses as you move "around" the piece. And how
well the action flows together. And the fight with Sabretooth. And old
Logan fighting the Sentinel. And...........well, you get the point. Very nice,
John.

John, how many extra charcaters did you throw in this time? This really is just an amazingly detailed piece.
What's the longest that you have ever spent on a piece, and is this the piece?

Goddamn!.
That's your best Wolverine yet (the central depiction: I haven't yet started analyzing the rest of the montage).

What's the longest that you have ever spent on a piece, and is this the piece?••• Jim Warden doesn't want me revealing how long a piece takes me, any more. Apparently there are muttonheads out there who look not a the quality of the finished piece, but only the time it took to produce, and declare the work inferior if it didn't take "long enough".

I am increasingly aware that I am probably more
familiar with Logan's dentistry than any other
character I have worked on!

What are these people thinking? I can't imagine how these pieces could be any better, regardless of how much or how little time it takes to draw them. You would think that in a world where people seem to spend more time gossiping about artists on the internet than actually reading the comics they make, that they would understand by now that different people draw at different speeds and time frames are not indicitive of quality.
