The Ultimate Universe is a different Universe as much as Earth-X, Zombie Earth, or Earth 2 by DC.  For that matter, I have found them to be pretty good reads along the way.I drop in and out of storylines depending on where my budget is, but I find the characters recognizable from where I was introduced to them in the Ultimate universe, so I have no problem.

I do enjoy Ultimate Spidey and Ultimate FF more.  They are much more fun.

And Howard Mackie, I love most all of your work!

I don't know if it's still up. But on millarworld, Mark Millar used to brag that mutants were shit and the movies were all based on *his* brilliant reinventions because the producers cut through the dreck and went right for *his* version.

The Brian K Vaughan stories were cool. The students had assignments and were forced to act smart. I didn't read the rest though.

Uh, the Ultimate Universe started more than a year after the X-Men movie came out.  In fact, it was explicitly (as in, as part of the original pitch) meant to superficially resemble the movie.

I read somewhere that Joe Q (or someone at Marvel) has said that any product that appears in an Ultimate book will be written/designed to be translated into movie format / live-action.

I too got them out from the library. I really enjoyed the Ultimates and FF was
alright too. The X-Men just plain sucked.

Ultimate FF was mostly very good under Millar, and what can I say.. I loved the Ultimates.
