A back-to-basics Lee/Ditko Dr. Strange sounds incredible. But a JB Black Panther series I suspect could put an incomparable stamp on the character. It could be a definitive run.

I've often wondered how much interest you would have in doing a Nick Fury
series, JB... I've always liked how you've used him.

(The Black Fox would be my first choice..!)

"Has Guardians of the Galaxy ever sold?"

Well the 90s series went for just over five years. That's the longest run they had. Beyond that it was a scattering of appearances here and there. In the 70s they had about 10 issues of Marvel Presents devoted to them. Including a few issues written by Roger Stern.

If The Invaders book ever happens, please include Nazi war machine robots crushing gangster cars ('20s and 30s "bubbly" vehicles with the split windows in the back) in 1940s NYC (with lots of rubble, of course!).

Hmmm...  I smell a cool commission.

Guardians of the Galaxy by far. My favorite Byrne works involve sci fi and I've
always wanted to see JB on a space opera type deal.

Invaders would be a great second choice though.

Looking back at all the commissions you've done over these last few years JB, one of the things I've most enjoyed about them is the inking. When the character or object calls for it you lay down these great lines showing grittiness and texture. This inking style would work so well in a war comic, and I can see you really shining with the Invaders in WW2 combat scenarios.I imagine a Kubert-style of war comic, like Sgt. Rock.

My first choice, though, would have to be the Black Panther. Your depiction of him early in your FF run has stayed with me to this day. Your knack for drawing imaginative machinery would get a workout, what with all the futuristic Wakandan technology, and having the Panther also bouncing around New York would play to another one of your strengths - cityscapes. Your version of the Black Panther would leap off the pages in a comic like this.

I'd enjoy seeing what JB would do with Dr Strange, Black Panther and Ka-
Zar.

I think all of the above are great choices, JB. I'd be especially curious to see what you'd do with Dr Strange and Black Panther.

Doctor Strange

- A good fit in that you haven't done a lot of weird or bizarre stuff. There's a little Ditko living in you, too.

Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD

- Not a big fan of Fury myself. I just liked it when Steranko was doing it. Probably would buy if you did a lot of messing around with graphic art techniques.

The Invaders (WW2)

- Perfect fit I should think.

Guardians of the Galaxy

- These guys bored me.

Black Panther (bouncing between NY and Wakanda)

- You'd have to whip up some interesting villains.

Ka-Zar (in New York)

- This guy bored me.

The Black Fox (a cheat, I know, but I have not done him in his own title)

- I like how you handle your own characters.

PS Heard a rumer Jeph Loeb might be stepping up as EIC at Marvel. We might actually get some of this action.

Just the fact that you made a thread like this, JB, is incredibly exciting!  Granted, I realize it has a hypothetical theme, but recently there seems to be a shift towards optimism in your recent posts.  You even spelled out MARVEL!  How can we help heal old wounds, encourage you in thinking you could make a significant shift in current comic trends at Marvel, and generally make this happen? :-)
