John, I find it impossible that anyone could put a negative spin on your gesture

Ari, by the end of the day, it will be me who stiffed
Gerry and Golden who made the offer.

Byrnewell predicts.

Gerry, this is an outrage. JB, my hat's off to your generosity.

At least it got there fast. Mailed on 7/24, and already across the pond. What shipping service was it, Gerry?

Seriously though, that sucks. He's been making a big push to get his name out there again, probably thanks to RW, and this is the way he treats his customers. Did others in the protest group get the same treatment?

Gerry,

This story is so crazy it's borderline unbelievable if you did not show us the "commission". Golden should be ashamed of himself. Do you think there is any chance that he is planning to send you a follow up commission? I hope he is just kidding but I don't think jokes are funny when a 500 dollar price tag is attached.

Hope it all works out for you Ger!

Gerry,

I think this piece of artwork flies in the face of professionalism.  Its a horror.

And, for those interested, I was one of the people who banded with Gerry to say that we had a paid a lot of money and he was months and months late and had missed every deadline that his representative gave him.  I will post my piece as soon as it is received.  I suspect that all four of us will be receiving pieces of a similar nature.

Michael

Terribly disappointed in Golden.

Nice gesture on JB's part.

Bad Byrne Story # 96-variant A:

"And then John Byrne mailed the poor guy Michael Golden's severed head!...converted into a grisly bong! "

Mr. John Byrne is the best!  What a cool gesture.

Gerry, you were hosed royally by these guys.  Michael Golden just appeared at Heroescon in June; along with Renee Witterstaetter.  I guess they had time to fit sketches in at that show, because they certainly did a few.

Considering how long Golden has been in the business, this really ought to be reported high & low.  I wouldn't pick up anything on the stands by these jerks ever again, but then it's not like either of them have been much of a presence in the shops recently anyway.

If sufficient word of mouth doesn't force the two of them to issue an apology, Gerry - you really should post this prominently in a ComicArtFans gallery along with your cautionary tale AND all the terrific visual evidence.
