I had managed to resist the whole Pop phenomenon. Then they came out with a Doctor Who line, and I decided to just pick up those. Big mistake. It opened the gateway to Marvel and Star Wars and a whole bunch of other figures.

I am convinced the whole Pop phenomena is a giant Ponzi scheme but with figures.I know people are buying them but when I walk into a shop and see the level of stock they have on display, small shops even, the amount of money those shops have tied up in that company is shocking.

Kaiyodo is releasing a roughly 10 inch long display "figure" of the Disney 20K Leagues Nautilus submarine as part of the Movie Revoltech line:

More photos and features on the HLJ website.
(Just when I thought I was free and clear, they drag me back in again...)

I wanted to take second and give some well deserved kudos to the customer service department for LANARD TOYS.
Lanard is the company that makes THE C.O.R.P.S. army men for Walmart. They look like cheap G.I.Joe knock offs but are actually better made figures that what Hasbro has been making.
In any case they are also producing toys for KONG SKULL ISLAND. The big toy being an 18" King Kong. My son and I saw one about 2 weeks ago and he loved it. Well, his birthday is May 8th. So, about a week later, I went back to buy one. $30,very reasonably priced. It's no where to he found, not in the stores and not online unless I want to pay secondary market prices. So, I sent an email to the company asking about the toy.
They got back to me the next business day, understood the problem and we're already correcting it. New Kongs should be in store by his birthday.
In a world where so much customer service is automated it was nice to get a personal response and in such a quick time frame.
Bravo, Lanard Toys

Btw, if you haven't seen the figure, it's pretty cool for a kid's toy.

The Eaglemoss booth at Wondercon 2017 last weekend:

I did end up buying the large-scale USS Enterprise miniature (but did that at my LCS the day before heading to the con):

Usually, I love the work of MEZCO on their ONE:12 Collectors line, but this Wolverine (now up for pre-order) and it looks like kinda weird. Glad they went with the brown & yellow outfit, however the laced boots, belt and the shoulder pads don't work for me. Plus I was expecting an unmasked head to be included. Oh well....

Why would you put shoulder pads on a character famous for violently swinging his arms?

I did end up buying the large-scale USS Enterprise miniature (but did that at my LCS the day before heading to the con):+++++++++
From what I've seen, it looks like the large Enterprise is about the same size (about 11" long) as the Polar Lights 1/1000 model kit. It looks to be less accurate, but the upside is that it's pre finished, and has die-cast metal construction.
While I've not gotten into the Eaglemoss TREK ships, myself, I do like checking out video and still-image reviews of the various releases. Accuracy issues with a lot of them, but they still look like cool display pieces at pretty reasonable prices.
Also, Sam's photo makes me once again hanker for a Captain America shield replica, but it seems that most of the current licensed replicas feature the extra detailing of the movie version and/or the red, SILVER, and blue color scheme. Me, I'd prefer something a little more comic-accurate. Same with Thor's hammer.
A slight tangent--I was recently speaking with a youthful (19!) coworker, who expressed interest in getting into comics (since she loves the movies), but, like most newbies, has no idea where to start. She totally gets my ranting about fidelity to the source material and my complaints about where the comic industry has gone, and seems like a perfect person to convert to the Nerd Side. She mentioned that she loves Captain America, so, as one of the random acts of kindness that I often like to perform, I got her Marvel Masterworks: THE AVENGERS vol. 1, Marvel Masterworks: CAPTAIN AMERICA VOL. 1, and CAPTAIN AMERICA: WAR AND REMEMBERANCE.
She was ridiculously excited to receive these books, and said it felt like going to Disney World. I couldn't stop smiling as I drove home.
Pssss--Don't tell, but I also got her the first SPIDER-MAN and FANTASTIC FOUR Epic Collections, as well as THE INCREDIBLE HULK Masterworks vol. 1, since her birthday is next month. Might as well provide a reasonably broad-based gateway drug, y'know?
This is pretty much my way of both paying forward the good luck/karma that got me a signed copy of I AM NOT SPOCK for free, as well as spreading my love of comics of the next generation. Good times!

Just received an email inviting me to take part in a survey about Eaglemoss producing a series of 9.5 inch ships from BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. These are the 350 jobs which are too expensive for me. I would much rather have £10 ones similar size as the STAR TREK and BATMOBILES.

I'm thinking of getting a Green Lantern statue and prefer a 1/6 scale size. Was thinking of this one but are there any other suggestions?
