Damn! Last year I found that Spider-Man index posted by Joe signed by both Roger Stern and JB, but I considered it too expensive for a simple "guide to the character" and I decided to use my money for some real comic book. That was a sad moment!

By the way, I remember that, when Spider-Man had his black costume, in AMAZING (by Ron Frenz) they used the blue parts. Instead in SPECTACULAR (by Al Milgrom) the costume was completely black (except for the big spider)... and it had a strange effect. Spider-Man seemed a big black blot.

Doesn't JR, Jr. draw Spider-Man in the black and red togs?

I was talking to Chris Giarrusso at a con about this subject. Apparently one day at the bullpen, this topic came up and the official Marvel decree was that Spider-Man's outfit is Red and Blue. Chris disagreed, and decided to always draw Spider-Man's outfit in Red and Black, waiting for an editor to tell him otherwise. That has yet to occur.

Not even a hint of blue.

I might be wrong, but I thought I read somewhere that Gil Kane originally wanted Green Lantern to be blue and green.  I'm not sure if I'm remembering right, but interesting. Must be how these stories grow...

Spider-Man in red and black looks better.  I like Superman with the darker blue also. And of course Batman in gray and black.
Maybe Moon Knight is silver...eating a lot of crow today.

••

That seems unlikely. Gil would have known what a nightmare that would be for the color separators.

Wow, I've never seen the Mini Marvels stuff.  The faces look very Watterson-ish.  Can anyone here offer any feedback?  Are they really good, or pretty much just a one-note novelty?

I enjoy them. Some samples can be found at Chris Giarrusso's site.

Particularly amusing is the feature length "Paperboy Blues".

I feel pretty certain that Moon Knight is silver like the silvery moon, but maybe I'm crazy.

In this same vein, I think that Black Panther and Black Bolt are both dressed in black. (Black Goliath and Black Lightning, though are in blue.)

I always thought Storm's uniform was black leather.  A little shine to it...especially the cape.
