A very nice early Kubert Hawkman has turned up on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Brave-and-the-Bold-34-Pge-5-1st-App-Hawk man-Kubert_W0QQitemZ180263018642QQihZ008QQcategoryZ972QQssPa geNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It's going to end up way out of my price range, but I thought some of the folks around here might be interested.

Ari, that's a sweet Darwyn ya got there.  I'm gonna try and grab another sketch from him at Baltimore this year.  I hear he started capping his list at 6 sketches at Heroes.

Legion of Super-Heroes #259, pg 16

Pencils by Joe Staton, inks by Dave Hunt

Most of my favorite Legionnaires are present on this page--wonderfully illustrated by Staton and Hunt.  In my opinion Staton's Legion work was among his all-time best, along with his work on the All-Star revival.  This issue marked Superboy's last appearance as headliner in the book--an event of great sadness for me as a nine-year-old reader at the time.

A treat I dug up last time I went home:

I'm not sure when I got this--probably around the time of its publication (1981).  I loved this piece as a kid:  the Lizard is my all-time favorite Spider-Man foe, and I was mesmerized by seeing them painted.  I like how Larson and Fastner are able to maintain the wonder of their subject matter while yet injecting a degree of realism.

I met Alan Davis on Sunday during the Japan Expo near Paris. I got this :

Mark Farmer was there, and although I got both of them to sign some books, my copy of "True Brit" signed by JB being somewhere in a box, I could not get Mr Farmer to sign this one. I could have asked him to ink the above sketch, but I prefer the pencils. A friend of mine asked for a black widow.

That was a nice day, and I got my copy of Captain Britain signed.

Just won this on eBay:

It is Seth who I thought was a really great villain during the late 80s THOR comics.  The art is by Ron Frenz, the original design of this version of Seth was by Brett Breeding.
