I have never read Next Men before, but I just found the Next Men: Parallel trade at a LCS and plan to read it tonight. I'm very excited to have what is for me "fresh" Byrne characters and stories.

newkadia.com has good prices on most of the individual issues as well. the
trades can be harder to track down. i paid upwards of $30 for a copy of the
second volume last year.

I got 25% off because this copy was second hand and has some wear on the spine and a crease in the corner but I couldn't care less, I've been wanting to read Next Men forever it seems.

What's funny is that I had a spare copy lying around for a couple years. I put it up on eBay 2 or 3 times before it finally sold at around cover price!

As much as I understand your enthusiasm and envy the fact that you are getting to enjoy these stories for the first time, I strongly urge you to seek out a copy of the first trade before leaping into volume two (there are a couple of VERY reasonable offers on eBay right now I believe). Next Men is very much one single, highly complex, constantly evolving story.
If at all possible though, you must track down the single issues...JB's editorials and the letters columns were at least half the fun of any given JBNM comic!

All the NEXT MEN stuff will be coming from IDW in big, honkin' black and
white "phonebooks" in the New Year. Don't have a more precise schedule
than that, but when I know, you'll know.

JB, is it too much to hope that the rest (as in the ending) of the Next Men saga might finally find a home at IDW?

Good news. I'll be buying 'em, especially since I've never read past DH trade #2.

Is "2112" included? If so, where is it slotted? Also, what about the last page of the series that was left out of the trades?

Not to take away from the news about the "Phonebooks", but if anyone wants the original Next Men TPBS, Check out Amazon. You can get them used from sellers for as low as $2.00 +postage.
I discovered a couple of years ago, that buying used is a pretty good deal.
I got both of JB's novels for less than 50 cents each*, I've gotten some excellent deals on TPBs. I bought the complete set of JBNM for less than $15.00!
I don't buy new anymore.
* Yes I know.. But I'm not counting the WW novel, because I have virtually no interest in the character. If I DID tho, 27 cents is not a bad deal at all!

I've got all the NextMen individual comics so I'll pass that although the Black and White version might be interesting to see. On the other hand, I would kill to read new issues so guys buy the trade paperpacks in wagons !

AT LEAST!!! Tell all your friends and acquitances, we need those books to sell!
I already have the series, but will buy everything again just to have it in B&W!
It reminds me of the Dark Times in the mid-90s when Marvel and DC were publishing even MORE dross than nowadays and that series not ust kept me from leaving comics for good, but also made me experiment new books (those from Dark Horse and Legand), which made me continue to be a lifelong comics reader. That's what Next Men (and Danger Unlimited, Babe, ProtoTykes...) means to me, and I will be on seventh heaven if the series is revived!

Yay! These are great news!
I too have the whole series, paperbacks and all, but I like it so much I will be getting the phonebooks for me, my friends and everybody I can hook on the series.
JB - please do try to include all the extras that weren't on the series or the DH paperbacks like : the trading cards art, the cover/pin-up for Diamond's Previews, the artwork for the jackets and its add, the Hyperion covers, the Arena Jasmine/Bethany cover, the Wizard unused cover and all the rare stuff.
Long live JBNM!

Can't tell you how many times I've loaned out the Trades to friends who aren't comic readers and hooked them on NEXT MEN. Unfortunately, I'd always have to end up explaining the M4 sub-plot when it appeared.
That's the greatest loss in those trades -- no M4.
How will the phonebooks incorporate it?
