It's getting tougher to post these earlier issues with two stories going on and keep the image count down!  So much is going on, I could have easily uploaded all of Shaman's origin tale and a few more of Puck's.

Probably my favorite of the early 'solo' stories.  Eugene Judd really came to life here, and nearly died again, without being given much more than a hint or three about his life before Alpha Flight.  As much as I love Guardian, it's Puck that I would want to see JB return to do more stories about, present and maybe just a little in the past.  I love the multiple-pose action panels so much I built a whole JB commission around them.

JB, did you have Elizabeth in mind as a future member of AF when you did Michael's origin?

The above pages with Puck sneaking around really point out what is missing in modern comics: Thought balloons!  In a modern comic, all of that internal conversation would be in a speach balloon and it would look like he was sneaking around talking out loud to himself, which would never work!  Thought balloons are the sole convention of the medium, no other medium can use them.   I wish that creators would stop being ashamed of one of their best tools and bring them back in force.
