Don't know why, but the first thing that came to mind seeing the giant robot is "Oh man...H.E.R.B.I.E. has lost it!".

I love how the page continues off the panel border with the poeple running from the trouble behind them. This is something that Kirby did that made his pages more dynamic than other artist's of the era.

One of the earliest things I picked up on, when I began a serious study of
Kirby's art. He most often worked to a standard 4/6/9 grid, but when he
composed the images within the panels, he mostly ignored the panel
borders. He did not often cross them, something I learned from Neal
Adams et al, but he sure gave the feeling that he did!
