Great issue! Wish the world had more of these nowadays. With all the great art, stories, and detail, it's hard to imagine JB's heart wasn't into this series.

Alec Thorne gave me one of those little paper cuts to the psyche that come
from working in an office populated with far too many people who want to
dissect everything down to the tiniest molecule. His OHOTUMU entry lists
his "full name" as ALEXANDER -- without anybody asking me, or apparently
being aware that "Alec" is a real, full name.
That wasn't Alexander Guiness in STAR WARS, after all!

Probably one of the first American comics I saw when I rediscovered comics in my teens. Despite the shoddy printing, there is some truly terrific art here. I particularly like the dropping of the panel borders when Nelvanna is present. Alpha Flight deserves the B&W treatment.
Quick question for the board - are the paperback reprints worth getting? Do they improve on the colouring?

I don't buy the Essentials collections, but I would pick up an AF version on the day of release.

I think someone posted a few samples of a paperback collection early this year but I have to say I hated the colours...I still prefer the individual comics.

Love the cover to this one!
But then I do have a soft spot for Miss Beaubier.

This is the first issue to show any hints of Northstar's homosexuality, yes?

I liked this issue. The story origin gives more info that helps to understand more the story on issue # 1.
Just out of curiosity, but i think we get the first clue about Northstar's Sexual Orientation. Did Northstar and Belmonde were partners years before?

Is this the only other appearance of Dame Ruth Efford outside of "Wendy's Friends"?

I dislike the gloss reprints too. I don't know if it's the scanning that's done at 150dpi or that the color isn't toned down but the reprinted deluxe tpbs are harsh to look at. Which I don't understand since it's an upgrade from the Essentials. Why not invest some extra labor at least toning down the hues or something. DC reprint theirs on deluxe non gloss stock and it looks way better with no apparent color adjustments needed cause most past books look fine in their original format, it's just the high gloss reprint that messes up the colors / black outlines relationship. rant rant rant
I know it's deranged but Aurora's particularly hot looking this issue! Zapristi! And her dialogue is killer. "I do the best considering the scraps Jeanne-Marie leaves me with". Ahah, ranting behind Jeanne-Marie's back, so catty!
