Here is a fun hypothetical . . . . imagine if you will Marvel buying DC. And for fun, let's put this hypothetical in the 80s when Marvel was really doing well. How would Marvel had done it? How would the two universes be integrated for the long haul? What would stay/what would go? Keep the Avengers or the JLA? And what would be the core team?
Now let's reverse it. How would DC incorporate the Marvel universe if DC had the power to buy them? For fun, let's say this is when Marvel was about to go bankrupt, before the movie money started coming in. Would how DC handle the transition be different than how Marvel would have?
Thoughts?

Marvel would take whatever they wanted like the new online comics DC has, then shut down DC and put them in the drawer with Malibu Comics.
DC would just make the Marvel U another world in the multiverse.

This has come up many times. In the Seventies, Shooter was actually making
his plans for what would happen not "if" but "when" Marvel bought DC.
When I announced I was going to be doing UNTOLD LEGEND OF THE
BATMAN he called me up and told me if I would do it for Marvel, he would
make sure I got paid (more than DC was paying me) and he'd just "keep it in
the drawer until we buy DC."
One of the discussed "plans" was for "Marvel Red" and "Marvel Blue", one of
which would be the "Marvel Universe", the other the "DC Universe".

Forget John Malkovitch. They should film "Being Jim Shooter".

Marvel buys DC, it would probbaly be, first nothing, then I would expect someting like Stan Lee's Superman and Batman showing up. They will probbaly switch to the Marvel logo. In this case, the time period you picked is so that Marvel still believes in their trading cards, so I have no high expectations.
Let's say DC buys Marvel. The smartest thing to do would be to keep it, the logo etc. And then fix the finances. What probably would happen though is, they would onbliterate them completely so there would be no competition, kepping the rights to most of the characters and the trademarks just so that nobody would be abl to use them.

If Marvel buys DC, I drop comics.
I thoroughly dislike how Marvel is handling its own characters.... God knows what they'd do with DC's.

At this stage in the game, if something like this were to happen I'd hope it
would be going the other way around...

I remember hearing something, probably a rumor, about DC buying Marvel. Could be I'm misremembering altogether.
Anyway, the prospect of Marvel buying DC is a scary one.

some time ago, right before Marvel went bankrupt, someone I trust implicitly said he had heard several rumors that Marvel was shopping the X-Men to DC just for the cash. The mind boggles...and during the Marvel vs. DC series, wasn't there talk of the Hulk satying in the DCU, and somebody from DC going to Marvel?
In the scenario at hand, using the Malibu debacle as a reference and having no faith in the current Marvel regime, I can't imagine the DCU would fare any better than the Malibu Universe did.
