"You almost got Savage Land jungle, Joel, but at the very last minute I
decided a nighttime cityscape would make Namor and the Griffin "pop"
more. "

Ha...that's totally what I was guessing I'd get too! You are right, this is way more dynamic.

I always thought pairing the two was a stroke of genius. It just worked so well and is such a cool visual. A mythological monster like the Griffin is an appropriate beast for the King of Atlantis to ride!

The expression on Namor's face and the cityscape make this work on a whole lot of levels.  Congrats Joel!

Congrats again Joel. You've cornered the market on Namor commissions. Really like how John managed to keep the characters very large but still give you a substantial background

Love the Griffin! I'm afraid to get the issue after the last one I have where the Griffin appears, and then isn't in the issue after that. I'm afraid the beast is slain (not in the cheap way of most comics seeking fan approval, but because the story dictated it and the Griffin's death might be poignant). Thanks JB for making me worry about such things (still), in comics.
