Do you know if Dave Cockrum drew this model sheet exclusively for you or
it was a generic work for in house reference? Did you use it? Did Cockrum
draw the Phoenix figure in Iron Fist #15? Did you have more model sheets
by Cockrum from X-Men characters when you began your run on X-Men?
Thanks in advance!

Two things about that model sheet I never noticed in all these years:

1. There's a Phoenix clasp on Jean's right hip. Never noticed that until it was pointed out on that sheet. Well there you go.

2. She's only 5'4"? That's Logan's height, right? I always thought she was closer to 5'9", 5'10", considering Scott's a six footer or so. Am I about right?

Cheers, Mal

One other thing: Dave C. was bloody good when his game was on, wasn't he?

Logan is 5'3".  She does appear more than 1" taller than Logan in the comics.  However, she does wear heels, at least as Phoenix.

Yeah, someone an inch taller calling you "shrimp" is taking a bit of a liberty, no?

The OHOTMU listed her as 5'6, and I think that's what Marvel has gone with ever since.

That kind of chutzpah, is it any wonder he ended up so taken with her?

This really makes me miss Dave Cockrum's work.

The man was great.

Few better. And one who really did have a distinctive artistic "voice". I
remember Roger Stern kidding him about these "model sheets". "How to
Draw the X-Men? You mean How to Draw the X-Men like Dave Cockrum!"

When I started on UNCANNY, I would have gladly handed over a few semi-
vital body parts for that ability!

Dave Cockrum was great.  His Legion and X-Men costumes had a great flow overall.  His Lightning Lad is still one of my favorites, noticed that they've incorporated some of it into Black Lightning's look.
