in the heritage archives theres very nice scans from some early avengers issues, the very next page after the one in the auction for instance.Their all as clean and bright as this page, in very similar condition to this one. They all have notations etc which this one doesnt, of course the page may have been trimmed. The other pages have all been signed by Kirby.

The recent history of this page is a bit murky, last year a couple turned up at a comic shop stating they had found this page and a pile of others sandwiched between the pages of magazines theyd bought at a garage sale.Since then the page went back to heritage and ended up with the current owner.

"What's making your spider-sense tingle, Joe?"

The lines on the cheek especially seem noticeably different to me.  I'm no art-fraud-spotting expert but if I was spending $50,000 on this it would give me pause.

On Yahoo's original art forum several dealers have confirmed the page is authentic, however, the edges have been trimmed.

What does this mean?  What used to be around the edges?

"Although I don't own any original silver age pages, I've seen many and this page looks much whiter and well, newer than I think it should"

And yeah I would have to agree with some of what's already been said....some really old pieces of art can look like they were just completed.  I have some 30 year old Curt Swan pages that are just as bright and white as my new stuff.  The pics I've seen of the original Amazing Fantasy 15 art look to be in great shape too.

Check this comparation. It's almost impossible to recreate a drawing this
tight, even to anticipate the increase of the thickness of the lines due to
awful printing.

If someone can recreate this, he's my hero. Just check the efect of the
printing on the supposed straight line of the frame, so I think that it's hard
to take the printed image as a faithful reference.
