The marriage of Peter Parker and Mary Jane was an experiment that should have been limited to the continuity of Spider-Man's newspaper comic strip. Twenty years later when Marvel tried to move away from it, many fans revolted. They saw the marriage as the central focus of the book, over and above all the other things that make Spider-Man, well, Spider-Man.
The implausible relationship between Cyclops and the White Queen has already been around for six or seven years. How long before the fans declare that couple to be superior to Scott and Jean?

Is Jean alive? Maybe Scott should stay single for a while. Get to know himself. Seems he has no self confidence if the White Queen is his idea of a good catch. Sure she'd be great for a romp, but long term? You can do better Slim!!

Jean's dead for now. You know, eventually when they reveal that the White Queen's been dominating everyone into accepting her as an X-Man and making Cyclops love her, there will be a lot of fans upset that the classic Cyclops/White Queen relationship has been ruined.

Killing Barry Allen. Isn't that now considered a "classic" part of the post-Crisis DC Universe, and an important part of Kid Flash's character development, and so forth?

Scott has been a real jerk on and off for over 20 years or so now, starting with that whole Madeline Pryor thing. I think we need to find him in a cocoon at the bottom of the bay. Level-headed-leader Cyclops wouldn't go near Emma Frost. Jerk Cyclops could probably let Emma mind-rape Jean then suggest a threesome.
