How feasible does everyone think it would be if I were to try to get a commission done from whatever artists I like of not an established character out there, but one of my own design?

For example:  I've toyed around with a certain character of my own design since my teenage years now and would love to see if established artists out there would do him justice.  I know some folks refuse to do original characters, but with others, they don't mind at all.

What's JB's take on this and what's the general consensus people who've gotten commissions done from other artists?

As someone who create a whole universe full as a teenager I've certainly had this thought rolling around in my head.  I know that JB doesn't but some like Breyfogle and Ron Frenz do, and I -think- our own Anthony Castrillo does too.  I haven't actually commissioned anything yet, I've got to pay off what I've got in the works now : ), but next could be the year.

Edit:  there's a guy who does this kinda thing but rather than it being a character it's a thing.  A cliff.  He asksd artists to draw whomever they want but asks them to model the piece around a cliff.  He's got a web site that I've seen before but couldn't find to offer a link.  Some interesting pieces in sketch book.

Ah, you are the same Brian Peck who has the cool Yeates piece of a woman flying on a large iPod.  Love the Paul Ryan pieces, btw.
