OK so I have been keeping something that is pretty damn cool, but I didn't want to jinx it by telling everyone about it, until after it all happened. On Oct 10th I got the following email:
Dear Jodi,
Stan Lee came across your fantastic customized Stan Lee Mighty Mugg
Stan realizes that this is a one-of-a-kind, personally customized item, but he'd love to have one himself.
Please contact me at this e-mail or call to let me know what options might be possible for Stan Lee to have his own Mighty Mugg.
Thank you very much.
I thought someone I knew was pranking me, so I called the number in the email and talked to Stan's Executive Asst., still not convinced it was real, I looked up the number I called and it did indeed belong to POW Entertainment.
Well you can imagine how shocked I was, but I did have enough clear thought to ask if I could hand deliver the Mugg, with my sons. I waited 2 days to hear from them, but I got a call and his Exec.Asst said Stan would be thrilled to meet with us.
We flew out from Indiana to L.A. on Wednesday and got back today, we met with Stan on Thursday. My oldest has loved comics his whole life, I gave him his first comic when he was barely old enough to walk and he grew up loving comics. I took him to our local comic book shop and those are some of my favorite memories. But this experience was something I NEVER thought I would be able to share with him.
Stan is the nicest guy, we spent about 20 minutes with him. He was wonderful with my boys, he talked to my oldest about what character he enjoyed besides Spider-Man and he said Silver Surfer. My son opened the shirt he had over his T-Shirt and underneath was his Silver Surfer shirt. Stan loved it.
I gave Stan the Mugg plus the Spider-Man Pony and Destroyer Pony
Here is the picture of the box set I gave him.
He got a big kick out of the Ponies and thought they would be a great toy line. He signed a couple posters for my sons and they had brought a book each for him to sign, which he gladly did, he kept saying he couldn't believe we would fly out from Indiana just to give him the Mugg, he was so touched by it. He also let us get a couple pictures with him. In fact I even got a kiss on the cheek when I walked in and when I left.
I can not say enough nice things about him, he is honestly one of the most welcoming people I have ever met. He puts you at such ease you feel like you have known him for a long time.
(We also got pictures with a few other stars, so it was a really GREAT trip.)
Waiting in what he calls the "Worlds Smallest Reception Room"
