That's an interesting thought; scar tissue is essentially TOO MUCH healing, or a way for the cells to attempt preventing the same thing happening in the same place.  Theoretically, Logan shouldn't get back to perfect, but rather to a scarred appearance.

Whenever I drew him shirtless, I always threw in a few scars here and there.

What gets me about the Norman Osbourne stuff is that it shows the new President to be a chump - the guy has so much smell about him - Green Goblin not withstanding - and yet he gets put in charge of the most powerful law enforcement agency in the world. The President is shown trusting the nutter and running out people who have a long standing reputation in saving the world. Makes no sense to me.

---

Osborn being placed in charge was an act of the outgoing President, and when the new President does attempt to look into the accusations about Osborn, Osborn stages an attack on Air Force One by the "Green Goblin." The new President also dressed down Osborn when he attempts to badmouth Nick Fury.

Doesn't explain why the supervillains don't smackdown Osborn though.

Greg, I've always thought so too!
He should be covered in scars, for sure.
Logan has a healing factor, but they seem to play it as a regeneration factor.

Also, bone claws are dumb.
When Wolverine pops his claws, it's a voluntary muscular flex that 'activates' the mechanism to release the claws. It's a mechanical function hence the tinny 'SNIKT' rather than a fleshy 'SPLOORTCH' or somesuch. Retconning in bone claws is contrary to established, published information.

On an aside, my favourite Snikt moment was UXM #122 when Logan pops his claws into the Danger Room control panel, while Colossus was in the hydralic masher-thing. Great scene.

JB, do you recall how that scene was born? That is to say, do you remember if that was one of 'your' scenes, and do YOU think it's a cool Logan moment?

I seem to remember a page in an issue of TOHOTMU  (the weapons issue IIRC) that showed how his claws retracted into housings in his forearms.

Eliot R. Brown did the coolest technical drawings in that series.

You know what I miss? When the big debate about Wolverine was whether he killed those guards off-"camera", because heroes don't kill.  And whether he could control his animal urges.  And whether the reason he was in the X-men was so they could contain him if he lost it.
Now, on the page, he slaughters dozens, or hundreds when Mark Millar writes him.  I'm old.

Nah, Norman will make a deal with Mephisto and everyone will forget (again) that Norman was ever the Green Goblin.

Oh... wait...

Only good guys make deals with avatars of the devil.

What's happened is that the people who used to write letters asking for
Wolverine to gut Scott and fuck Jean have become, if not literally at least in
spirit, the people writing the books.

I miss the Comics Code! It may have been restrictive, but at least if forced
us to be clever.

It all started going downhill with Classic X-Men#1, with the backup story revealing Jean's attraction for Logan. And that was _before_ Phoenix came along! It was as if Claremont forgot how to write his own characters.

I'm in my mid-thirties, so it's possible my generation was the last to really remember Wolverine when he was cool. I know his own comic series was a step in the wrong direction (though the Buscema art at the start was beautiful).

Chris always writes in present tense. One of my frustrations in working with
him was that it was nearly impossible to plan ahead, because he'd inevitably
end up writing what we'd planned for months in the future as if it was
now.

It happened in "Days of Future Past", where I plotted a scene of Kate, the
adult Kitty, reacting in joy to Kurt being alive in her past, the X-Men's
present. This was in contrast to how I was playing Kitty, who was vaguely
uncomfortable around Kurt. She was okay with the rest of the team, but
Kurt's bizarre physical appearance rendered him somehow "broken" in her
eyes. It was something I planned to have her work out over a year or so of
issues, and it was going to be a lurch for him when Kate was gone and Kitty
returned to her previous feelings of uneasiness. But having written Kitty as
comfortable with Kurt, Chris went on with that characterization from that
point.

The same thing happened with Scott leaving and Storm becoming leader. I
wanted Storm to step into the top slot, but I wanted a few issues for the
readers to wonder who the new leader would be, with Warren assuming it
would be him. Chris wrote Storm's "election" as an off-panel, between
issues done deal.

There were other things, too. All contributing to why I left.
