If you really liked it, you would have put all the X-Men into one, right?  Q.E.D.

Wolverine is just way too hairy for a green mini.

So. . . despite all the times I have drawn the green mini, despite my putting
Jean/Phoenix into that outfit in X-MEN 137, and despite my putting Candy
into it (as he notes!!) the assumption is that I don't like it??

I realized so much additional "life" could be brought to eyes by simply throwin that little bit of shadow across the top of the iris

********

It also captures an important subtlety that many artists miss about the slightly concave nature of the iris and pupil behind the convex cornea.

Oh, Gavin, you touch upon a sore point!

One of the first things I picked up from Neal Adams was his habit of occasionally doing tight close-ups on profiles, in which the viewer could clearly see that the lens of the eye curved outwards (distinct from the overall curve of the eye) and the pupil was set back from the surface of the lens. I drew this a few times myself, only to have inkers "correct" it, moving the pupil so that it was on the surface of the lens!

ARGH!!!

Brian Deuser: "I thought a neat trick of yours is when you place a small semicircle on the bottom lip when you DO intend to show that it's lipstick, or some other reflective gloss..."

Another thing picked up from Neal Adams, I believe...

Great topic! I have long held the belief that JB draws the best eyes. By the by, this thread title should be changed to; the eyes have it, or up with mini skirts!
