When you ask for a commission do you specify just the characters or do you give more detail about the background, etc.? Does JB have a preference?

••

Generally, I discourage the customers from trying to "write" the piece. It is a truism of many fans (and many professional writers!!) that they simply do not think in pictures -- at least, not still pictures that encompass an entire image! Often, when I get a detailed description, what's really being asked for is a six panel page -- and two of those panels have real, actual movement in them!

I can never be sure how much my better half is going to let me have on the walls. This way if I can only have a piece or two up I can just rotate them without taking up a whole wall with a large commission.

••

Just in case your good lady decides to let you put 'em all up, Jason, I suggest you frame them between sheets of glass or plastic, without actual frames. That way you can hang them next to each other, but with a little bit of space between to play up the "mosaic" effect.

JMH, These are shaping up very nicely! Love Doctor Strange and the Ditko background. Great job as usual, JB. Can't wait to see the "other" 3.

PS...I hate not being on the waiting list....

Trying to avoid that, William, is the main reason I have decided to take the
next three to the top instead of the bottom!

JB, do you ever finish a piece and then think, "I'd like to keep that one?"

Hmm, guessing X-men in there somewhere, to balance Magneto. Already have Doom/FF and Kang/Avengers. Who's the arch enemy of the Defenders?

I don't know who is more insane. Jason for requesting it or JB for agreeing to do it. But I will say the result is insanely beautiful.
