Hello,

I am new on this board and French.

I'm looking for all images, especially made by Byrne,
about Rogue (called Malicia in France), the character
from the X-Men, to complete my fashion gallery about her
style, that you will find on this link: http://www.zimagez.com/galerie/Le-style-Malicia--22167-
0.php

I prefer the drawings from the 80's but I look also for
any other drawings.

I hope I'm not out of the subject. I've tried to send an
e-mail to the webmaster without success (problem with his
e-mail address).

Many thanks to you beforehand.

Kind regards.

M.

We're recently established that there are a total of 2 illustrations of Rogue by JB

http://www.artofjohnbyrne.com/gallery/index.php?album=covers %2Fcover-sewa2&image=sewa2.1.jpg&p=*full-image

and

There's also a small face shot in an issue of Avengers West Coast that has a page of Mutant Heads and she's on the cover of the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe

That may or may not be her on the cover of Marvel Age - it's got her hair, but it looks like the Phoenix symbol on her chest, so it's likely Rachel. ( http://www.artofjohnbyrne.com/gallery/index.php?album=covers %2Fcover-ma&image=ma30.jpg&p=*full-image )

and her face is here, too: http://www.artofjohnbyrne.com/gallery/index.php?album=covers %2Fcover-ma&image=ma37.jpg&p=*full-image

hehe, so, the devil's advocate in me is screaming to ask, and I know it already sounds like a "bad Byrne story" rising like a phoenix, but...

Does JB not like Rogue? If so why? OR is it simply a case of not having a story that would have used her? And if this is along the right path, does JB have a Rogue story in him somewhere just crying to get out? ( keep in mind anything done with Rogue in the last15 years doesn't qualify.) Sorry if that's too many questions.

Edit: maybe I should type with my toes...

So... where in JB's career would that story have slipped in?  He was long off the X-Men by the time Rogue joined the team.  Why would he work with her?

Perhaps a good place to start would be her first appearance?--

Does JB not like Rogue?

••

No feelings either way. Think it's a silly name, tho. "Rogue" to me sounds like a male character.

Wait, if Rogue was called Malicia in France, by what name did the French refer to Malice?

Rogue was called Malicia? Do we have a fake name at the top of this thread?

Thanks for your replies so quick!

Malicia means "mischievous" in French. I think it's nice, it sounds like "Alicia". "Rogue" sounds less feminine. I also prefer the name "Serval" in French for "Wolverine". It's more simple.

I suppose we can find more drawings made by Paul Smith / Bob Wiacek than by JB like this one, very good: http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Comics:Uncanny_X-Men_Vol_1_173

I love her fashion style since my teenager age: very covered and including lines like the sporting suit of Emma Peel from The Avengers on TV. I think it can complete this style because we knew Emma Peel only from 1965 to 1967. Malicia includes fashion forms from the 80's so it goes further. I love how the cartoonnists worked on women heroes' fashion sometimes, very impressive!

Thanks to Internet, I already found great and rare pics about fashion, like those of the big star Greta Garbo! I hope to get the same for Malicia / Rogue or to create my own templates about it, to imagine new suits...

I love the way J. Byrne draws because the bodies always look balanced with him.

Kind regards,

M.

It would have been a pretty good name for Gambit had it not already been in use by then.

Rogue's one of the characters that doesn't get a translated name in Finnish editions. Storm and Wolverine keep their English names as well, though I think there's one instance of Storm's name having been translated as Myrsky (the Finnish word for storm) in an old Spider-Man comic.
