Favorite arc:  Fantastic Four #'s 242-244  Terrax takes half of Manhattan into space; Galactus vs. everybody; Reed saves the Big G, who in turn transforms Frankie Raye into Nova.  Still get the chills thinking about those issues.

Favorite issue:  Too many to mention, but the one that really threw me for a loop when I was 12 was FF #267.  The very last page.  You know the one.

Generations

If I had to be specific I'd say the third one (but very narrowly!)

I have had a hard time choosing.  So many JB stories tower over the writing of most comics in my estimation.  My favorites stand above other JB stories only slightly--

I think I have to pick the "Fall and Rescue of Galactus/Creation of Nova" story for its wide cast and unbelievable twists and emotional resolution.  Watching Johnny lose Frankie still breaks my heart-- I love how certainly she stepped into her new role without even a friendly smile of "goodbye" to poor Johnny.

But starting my mind down this road will lead to other favorites soon, I predict.  THANK YOU John Byrne!!

Well my first love is the Captain America/Baron Blood story, but I have to say that the Generations stories are favorites.
I also have a soft spot in my heart for an Action Comics Annual #6 where Gar-el comes to Earth in 1768 and goes about "helping" rule Earth.  Really chilling to see what happens to the American Revolutionary leaders!  Fun story.

I love FF #247 - "This Land is Mine!" where the FF begrudgingly help Von Doom overthrow Zorba to take back his throne.

Another favorite is FF #271 - The story where Reed takes on Gormuu in a tip of the hat to the old Marvel Monster stories.

My first introduction to JB and the FF was with issues 280 - 285 (they were reprints over here so I didn't know the numbers back then) so they remain my favourite.

Then it's pretty much the rest of the FF run with the Thanos takes Manhattan/Everyone Vs Galactus and the Trial of Reed, being the highlights.

Joint 2nd: She-Hulk 1-8, Generations I-II and OMAC.

Then everything else is sort of third place.

I can't put into words exactly how much I enjoyed those initial FF storylines, especially the Galactus/Nova run, but my vote for best story plotted by Byrne, at any rate, is Days of Future Past.
